For repeated assembly and dismantling
Portable & plug-in LED step lighting for retractable seating, platforms and temporary auditorium structures.
Lighting, cable harnesses, connection points and control are prepared as one coordinated system. The aim is simple: the technical team should be able to reconnect the intended configuration reliably the next time the structure is assembled.
For international projects, Bissinger Lights can engineer and supply the prepared system for integration by the appointed local team.
Prepared for the next configuration
The lighting should move with the structure – without becoming a new wiring project every time.
We define which luminaires, cables and connectors belong together. The appointed technical team reconnects the prepared parts according to that assignment; dismantling takes place at the intended separation points.
- ✓ Labelled connections: identify components during reassembly.
- ✓ Defined separation points: connect or remove platforms and access steps independently.
- ✓ Project-specific cable lengths: prepared for the agreed configurations.
Install the profiles according to the agreed fixing detail and connect the labelled plug points.
Test the lighting and set brightness through the agreed local, DMX or wireless control concept.
Disconnect the de-energised system at the defined points and protect components for the next use.
System package
Profiles, connectors and cabling matched to the structure.
We combine suitable LED step profiles or recessed luminaires with prepared connection leads, cable harnesses and defined handover points. Quantity, position and labelling follow the intended configuration.
A clear electrical boundary
The mobile system receives an assigned connection point, for example a labelled 24 V socket or a connector on the supply enclosure. This makes the intended handover visible to the installation team.
Cable lengths and branches prepared in advance
Lengths, branch points, distribution and strain relief are coordinated with platforms and steps. Separate circuits or A/B allocation can be included where the project requires it.
Power and control as part of the same concept
Prepared power-supply and dimmer enclosures, DMX, wireless DMX, DALI or project-specific backup operation can be included according to the agreed scope.
For seasonal assembly, dismantling and storage, including project-specific consideration of outdoor exposure where applicable.
Prepared connections for planned platform combinations and changing event layouts.
Connect additional illuminated steps only when they are required and disconnect them at defined interfaces.

Designed around operation
Assembly sequence, control and transport need to work together.
Connections must remain accessible, cable routes protected and assemblies serviceable. The correct solution depends on the movement and storage concept of the actual structure.
Changing configurations and later extensions
We identify which platforms, steps and lighting groups are used together or alternatively. Separation points, cable lengths and connector assignments are then designed around those combinations.
Labelled cables and separable assemblies support reassembly, maintenance and fault finding. Required reserve for future steps can be considered during the system design.
Dimming, DMX, wireless DMX and backup operation
24 V supplies, dimmers and lighting groups are matched to the connected load. DMX, wireless DMX, DALI or independent local operation can be used depending on the venue.
For backup operation, the system is coordinated with the intended supply concept. Where a regulated safety function is required, runtime, local standards and approvals must be confirmed by the responsible electrical and life-safety planning.
Retractable seating and removable control enclosures
For moving or telescopic structures, the actual travel paths are considered. Energy chains can guide cables through defined movements; other interfaces can use plug-in connections.
Power-supply and dimmer enclosures can be designed to be removable before movement, transport or storage where the project benefits from that approach.
Outdoor use, protected transport and storage
For outdoor use, luminaires, connectors and cabling are selected and prepared around the stated environmental conditions. The exact project environment needs to be reviewed before the system is released.
Flight cases can be incorporated for recurring transport so profiles, connectors and accessories remain protected and organised until the next assembly.
From layout to prepared system
Show us how the structure moves and how your team assembles it.
We select the lighting, connectors and cable concept together with the project team. A simple assembly drawing or sequence description is enough to begin.
- 01 Show the configuration Photos, drawing or model and information on which platforms or steps are used together or alternatively.
- 02 Define the system Lighting, plug distribution, power, control and the intended scope of supply are coordinated.
- 03 Fabricate & label Components, cable harnesses and connections are prepared for the agreed configuration.
- 04 Integrate locally The appointed local team installs the prepared system. Where separately agreed and feasible, Bissinger Lights can support installation or commissioning.
For international projects, interface responsibilities, local electrical work and compliance requirements are agreed before supply.
FAQ
Portable and plug-in step lighting
What is a plug-in step-lighting system?
It is a system in which the interfaces intended for assembly and dismantling are deliberately separable. Profiles, platforms or access steps connect through prepared, labelled plug connections so the agreed configurations can be repeated.
Do the profiles stay attached to the platform during dismantling?
That depends on the mechanical design and transport concept. Profiles can remain on the mobile element or be removed as complete luminaires. Electrical plug-in connection does not automatically mean tool-free mechanical removal.
Can several seating or platform configurations be prepared?
Yes. We can coordinate cable lengths, connector positions and assignments around the planned configurations, subject to the available supply and circuit concept.
Does Bissinger Lights supply custom cable harnesses?
Yes. Cable harnesses, connection leads and distribution points can be prepared around the structure, including labelling, branch positions, strain relief and circuit allocation.
Which connectors are used?
The connector type depends on voltage, current, pole count, mechanical use and operating sequence. Locking XLR connectors are one example for prepared 24 V connections; other suitable connector families can be used where the project requires them.
Can the system use DMX, wireless DMX or backup operation?
Yes. These functions can be engineered project by project. Power supplies, dimmers, control interfaces and intended backup behaviour are coordinated with the system and the responsible electrical planning.
Can a local contractor install the system internationally?
Yes. Bissinger Lights can prepare and document the system for integration by the appointed local team. The exact supply boundary and local compliance responsibilities are agreed for the project.
Project enquiry
What needs to move, separate or be rebuilt?
Send a drawing, photo or short description of the seating, platform or temporary structure. We will review the suitable lighting and connection concept.
The technical details do not need to be fixed before the first discussion.
Useful if available
